Genuine car parts certainly cost more than a similar, non-genuine article, but that doesnt mean to say they are any better. However, many people do choose to go with the genuine car part because they feel that it can be trusted to go better and not break down.
Much has been said about the cost of genuine car parts and it is certainly true that they are more expensive than those generic car parts that fit your car just as well. So why do people bother buying the genuine thing?
Genuine car parts often come with a better guarantee than the non-genuine item. This gives the buyer peace of mind in knowing that should the part be faulty, another one will be supplied at no extra cost. While a faulty car part may not be usual, it can certainly happen. You can then send or take it back to the dealer who will verify the fault and give you a replacement.
In the more expensive cars, having non-genuine car parts may mean that the insurance is void if a break-down or accident occurs, if that can be linked to the fault of the non-genuine car part. So having a genuine car part will ensure that there will be no difficulty in getting your insurance if necessary.
Pride is another reason that many people stick with the genuine car part. They want to feel that their car is special which it certainly is to them. They like to know that everything in the car is special too. There is nothing wrong with that, so long as you dont mind paying the extra cost. Many people also feel that the genuine thing is less likely to cause problems. While this may have been true in earlier years, these days there is much quality control in place and the non-genuine part is usually just as good as the genuine.
